In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and sea salt until evenly distributed.

  • 2

In a separate large bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture becomes pale, fluffy, and silky in appearance, approximately 2–3 minutes.

  • 3

Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth and fully incorporated. Gradually introduce the dry ingredients, mixing gently until a soft dough forms. Avoid overmixing to preserve a tender cookie texture.

  • 5

Divide the dough evenly into two portions.

  • 6

Tint one portion with green gel food coloring and the second with purple gel food coloring.

  • 7

Fold each gently until the colors appear vibrant and evenly distributed,

  • 8

Wrap each dough portion individually with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes. The dough should feel noticeably firmer and easier to shape once chilled.

  • 9

Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F).

  • 10

Line baking trays with parchment paper.

  • 11

Roll tablespoon-sized portions of dough into smooth balls and place them approximately 2 inches apart on the prepared trays.

  • 12

Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges show a delicate golden tint while the centers remain slightly soft. The cookies should appear lightly puffed and set around the perimeter while maintaining a tender center.

  • 13

Allow them to rest on the baking tray for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
