Where to Watch Moana
If you haven’t already seen the movie, Moana is a really fun and light-hearted movie that everyone in the family will love. It’s available on Disney Plus, but it’s also available to own on DVD and BluRay.
What is Moana about?
Released on November 23, 1996, this Disney film tells the story of Moana, the strong-willed daughter of a chief of a Polynesian village.
When their island begins to be destroyed, Moana sets sail in a daring mission to save her people. Along the way, she meets Maui, a mighty & legendary demigod.
Together the sails across the ocean on a fun-filled, action-packed voyage to restore a very special relic to Te Fiti.

The Music of Moana
Moana’s soundtrack is one of our family favorites. To be honest, anything Lin Manuel Miranda writes is a big deal in our house.
The music is upbeat and catchy. Just try not to sing “You’re Welcome” for days! Who knew Dwayne Johnson could sing?

Moana Quotes
Moana

“I am Moana of Motunui. You will board my boat, sail across the sea, and restore the heart of Te Fiti.”
“Okay, first, I’m not a princess, I’m the daughter of the chief.”
“Sometimes our strengths lie beneath the surface … Far beneath, in some cases.”
“There’s a whole ocean!”
Maui

Maui has a lot of funny one-liners in this movie. His personality is as big as his unruly hair! As Moana proves that she is strong and reliable, he softens a bit and has some great lines.
“Hero of men. It’s actually ‘Maui, shapeshifter, Demigod of the wind and sea, hero of men.’ I interrupted, from the top—hero of men. Go.”
“It’s called wayfinding, princess. It’s not just sails and knots, it’s seeing where you’re going in your mind. Knowing where you are by knowing where you’ve been.”
“If you wear a dress and have an animal sidekick, you’re a princess.”
“I’ve got your back, chosen one. Go save the world.”
“Listen. For a thousand years, I’ve only been thinking about keepin’ this hair silky, getting my hook, and being awesome, again.”
“When you use a bird to write with, it’s called tweeting.”
“You’re welcome.”
Gramma Tala

Gramma Tala is such a cool character. She listens and is tune with not only her granddaughter but the island and ocean.
“I’m the village crazy lady—that’s my job.”
“Whatever just happened … Blame it on the pig.”
“I’m his mom, I don’t have to tell him anything.”
“There is nowhere you could go that I won’t be with you.”
