Set to hit theaters in the summer of 2023, this new adaptation of Disney’s Haunted Mansion promises to be bigger and better than ever.
The Team Behind the Movie
The movie is directed by Justin Simien, as it was revealed at the D23 conference in Anaheim, CA. Simien said he was intrigued by the script and how the storyline portrayed the ride.
He gave special attention to making sure the hidden Easter eggs (or Hidden Mickeys to Disney fans) were included. As a former Disneyland employee, Simien identifies as a big Disney nerd, which is just part of why he was the perfect choice for this project.
The producers include Dan Lin (It), Jonathan Eirich (Aladdin 2019) and Brigham Taylor (The Jungle Book 2016, Tomorrowland 2015 and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest 2006).
There will be a star-studded cast, featuring so many talented actors who are sure to bring the comedy to this horror-comedy.
The Haunted Mansion Cast
Recently Disney announced its cast for the upcoming movie, which includes some fantastic actors and actresses with a variety of acting styles and skills.
Leading the cast is Ryan Gosling as Master Gracey, a mysterious ghostly figure who inhabits the mansion, the original scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis as Madame Leota, and comedienne Tiffany Haddish as the psychic.
Musician and actor Jared Leto (Thirty Second to Mars) is cast the Hatbox Ghost, who is a mysterious figure in the Haunted Mansion lore.
The cast also includes Rosario Dawson, who lives in the New Orleans mansion, Winona Ryder as the murderous bride Constance Hatchaway, LaKeith Stanfield, Owen Wilson, Dan Levy and Danny DeVito.
Disney has assembled an amazing group of talented actors for this movie that should bring their own unique styles and talents to the movie, which is sure to make for an exciting and thrilling experience.
The Plot
Gabbie, played by Rosario Dawson, is a single mom who is looking to start a new life. She buys a strangely affordable mansion in New Orleans for her and her of a nine-year-old son (Chase Dillon), but discover that the mansion is haunted.
They resort to hiring a paranormal tour guide (Lakeith Stanfield), a psychic (Tiffany Haddish), a priest (Owen Wilson) and a historian (Danny DeVito) to help exorcise the 999 happy haunts who reside in her newly bought mansion.
The Haunted Mansion 2023 Release Date
The new Haunted Mansion movie is set to be released on July 28, 2023, so fans of the attraction have a few months to wait until they can see it on the big screen.
